So your boss has started endorsing you on Linkedin some months back. Every week or two he adds a new skill to your profile. What is your read on that? Let's have a poll!

It bumps up his name in other people's "timelines".

He's probably going to ask you to return the favor by writing him a glowing recommendation

I think it is simply the LinkedIn feature staring him in the face. When I log on it does this, asking me if ____ knows ____.

Quid pro quo.

It is disconcerting.

Thank him face to face, then matter-of-factly ask him if something is in the works (like a layoff)

My vote. It's a dumb feature, I get endorsed by people that I don't even know.

"Professional" Facebook.

For things I don't even do. I probably delete 9/10 endorsements I get. Agreed. Dumb feature.

It is either no 2 or 5. I chose 5 - but number 2 is real at least in my circle of contacts.

It's number 3. People start to feel guilty about all the time they spend on facebook and Google+, so when they're done posting a picture of their sandwich they see what's up on Linkedin and endorse people. They then feel like they've done something vaguely related to work and they don't feel guilty.

I deleted my entire Linked-in profile right after they got hacked.

We're actually hiring folks right now in my dept. Linked-in and the other sites have ZERO bearing on our hiring process. Resumes are submitted, we phone-screen, and then bring people in for rather grueling on-site interviews.

A LinkedIn skill endorsement has all the cachet of a damp ball of sock lint. <ignore>.

The market is not endorsing LNKD today. Ouch.
