Now you know this is not 1950 anymore. :)

....and they want to be my latex insurance salesman.

Those of us up in the cockpit have known this for years... it was all a moneymaker for the airlines...

Cool - I can play my cassette walkman on takeoff again like I did in the 80's.

Ya know, maybe the FAA restrictions should be kept in place and expanded -- to family dinner time, data nights, when conversing with others...etc.

I pray they never lift the ban on cell phone usage!

At least your seat neighbor posting on Facebook is annoying in a quiet sort of way.

Sorry, Z-man, but I LIKE being able to disconnect from the world when I'm on a plane. It's bad enough that most Americans are so damn fat their rolls are flopping over into my seat, but 9 times out of 10, I do not want to have a meaningless conversation with the mouth-breather sitting next to me. Ear buds in my ears, book open (or laptop open if I have work to do) is a good sign for them to leave me the hell alone. And it enables me to "enjoy" my flight in relative peace and quiet.

Well, that is another valid type of 'disconnect.'

For that, I find wearing these work well (unless you want to read or work!):
