Gravity, the movie

I searched and didn't see a thread on this

Last night we didn't want to hang around for the door bell so we went to the movie, 3D Gravity, my wife chose it. I didn't read anything about it before and still haven't.
Other than getting out of the house I thought it was a waste of my time and money.
The Lone Ranger was a much better movie. I hardly ever think the movie was that much of a waste. I usually like Sandra and George but this ?plot and whole low budget thing was bad.

Enjoy the move for the visuals. The plot and science are very thin. See it in 3D Imax and leave your critical thinking in your car.

It is like Avatar, great visuals but not a great thinkers movie.

1+ for Glen. I saw the movie. A vehicle for the visuals and suspense.

Gravity Movie

Not sure how you could do a search and miss the earlier thread. Gravity. Movie.

Anyway, I hope you saw it at an Imax theatre. That, and the 3D, are pretty important to getting the most out of the visuals.

It is a movie, which implies that you should not expect it to be a documentary. I wouldn't describe it as low budget, either. It took years to figure out how to solve all of the technical problems to film it. It will change the way movies are filmed. Biggest grossing movie out there at the moment, too.

I saw it in IMAX 3D. The 3D was very impressive. It actually caused me to flinch once and blink several times as the debris was hurtling out of the screen at me. It was entertaining to watch in IMAX 3D.

Interesting article about it.

Frankly it was not a great movie...

But if you look at it like a SciFi movie like Terminator or Aliens... just put your brain on hold and enjoy the action it was pretty entertaining.

Just IMHO

Terminator, Aliens, Avatar were all more interesting, even though Avatar was just a cowboy/indian movie set two hundred years in the future but still more interesting. and of course a bigger budget.

And as for searching for this, I plugged in Gravity thinking that would do it but got nothing.

GH85Carrera 11-01-2013 10:32 AM

I had to remind myself that is was just a movie as I watched Gravity.

How many bullets from a machine gun has James Bond out run? One recent Bond flic I saw had several bad guys spraying bullets all at once and he could outrun them all. They could not move the guns as fast as he could run.

Avatar was Dancing With Wolves in the future. I can't believe the guy who wrote it got away with saying he was working on it for decades. Maybe for decades after Dancing came out. It was a visually disguised rewrite, IMO.

Gravity really had no story. It was virtual astronauting, like those simulation pods in the mall.

Avatar was annoying, after about an hour I was hoping the blue monkeys would get smoked. Their Utopian gayness was getting to me.

that butch Sargent was cool as hell.

I've recently gone the 3d big screen projector man cave deal. Looking for good 3d movies. Visually avatar is cool but what a jungle eff. So far my favorite is Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter. 3d is still gimmicky but with the right Ganga very entertaining.

I enjoyed every moment of it. I haven't been so engrossed, so consumed by a movie in a long time.

LOL I was sitting with an airline captain buddy and he said "Argh, this is too much like the flight simulator last week. The plane's on fire and I have to flick through the manual to find what to do next."

Agree it was a waste time and money, maybe why we didn't find a thread on it......Wife drug me there; passed the time reading a book on my tablet.

I was in a coffee shop in Vancouver owned by the guy that said he wrote the book and sent it in, didn't get credit one for it. He was suing, not sure how it turned out.

Edit, that was about Avatar
