Sleepy Hollow

It just started. I hope it's worth watching.

I guess we'll see. I think they made it a little too hokey too quickly.

OK.... Not bad at all. The historical content is interesting but I'm not sure about the rest.

I thought it was okay for a pilot. They seemed to want to throw a lot of exposition at the audience right away, at the expense of developing the characters. I'm hoping the pacing is better in the later eps when they're not worried about drawing you in.

And personally, I could do without the "character lurks, looking sinister and contemplative" shots that are supposed to make us wonder "Is he/she in on it?" That's overdone. It's a tv show, guys - everyone's in on it.

I am DVRing it... will watch it with my wife when she gets back from helping daughter move into college.

With a name like Sleepy hollow I expect some hokeyness... but most of TV is isn't it?

Ok. Second episode and somehow entertaining. If you can suspend disbelief it's not bad at all.
The historical content helps but tonight's ending was a predictable and quick.

I had trouble suspending disbelief at some scenes. Like I didn't see a tv in the sister's room, but clearly she's scene Terminator 2.

I don't normally watch series' like this but was channel surfing, saw the pilot episode as part of a Sleepy Hollow marathon & thought it was promising...until I got to the second episode.

Spoiler.

First off, I know we're talking about fantasy, so there is no right or wrong but the Headless Horseman is now armed with modern weapons 15 minutes into the second episode?! Really. In addition to the machine guns, his pump shotgun seems to have slugs that have warheads. I'm out. It was promising, liked the idea of a rip van winkle-type struggling with modern times plus always liked the legend of Sleepy Hollow but this got silly fast.

The whole story seems to be related top some vast conspiracy of secret, modern covens of witches among the populace and the horseman is now one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. This now becomes a battle for all of mankind.

The writers should've kept it simple. Ugh.

I haven't seen the show, Yet. But I have been shopping for a second home, investment property in North Carolina. One of the towns/cities I have been looking at is New Bern. Several episodes of the show have been shot in New Bern in and around the Tryon Palace. One of the houses I have been looking at is in the historic district and is in the same block just three houses away from the Tryon Palace. Several scenes were shot in the house. Here are a few pics.

Tea stained walls.

Fake cob webs.

Filming on Palace grounds.

For a house approaching 175 years old it is remarkably intact and well preserved and needs very little "restoration". How that happened is astonishing.

Im in on it though yes the shotgun thing was hoky I still like the overall series. I like Revolution better but that's just me. I was a huge lost fan and get sucked in to anything that is remotely close to it.

So cool. Tonight is the first night back after the World Series. My wife puts on the show and the scene is taking place in this room. The black girl (investigator) and a girl from the past ( Ichibod Cranes wife) are having a conversation in this room.
