It's a long cold three-story walk up the steps just to get to the parking lot.
From there, it's an hours drive back to civilization.

The nice ranger lady that lives up there 24/5 said dehydration is a problem - gotta climb a long way down to use the bathroom so you gotta limit your water!

It's Philmont!!! The last time I saw the place was 1996 but it looks exactly the same.

porsche4life 06-27-2014 12:32 PM

It should look the same! ;). They spend a good deal of money on preservation efforts!

daepp 06-27-2014 02:59 PM

WHAT is Philmont?

Reminds me of this home near me:

They must have a few old pictures they're basing the way it looks off of because I mean the same to the point that the furniture hasn't even moved. Or the rug on the handrail.

That property only needs a copper roof, 2' of overhang, water grading, and support columns for the 40' I-beam span in the garage.

And tissues. Lots of tissues.

That is sweet. Any update?

Embraer 12-01-2014 10:21 AM

house was nice, but it's located next to an apartment complex. I really don't like the idea of the transient traffic walking past the house to walk down to the Circle K to get swisher sweets, orange drink, and lotto tickets. The mid-century modern house I just posted above is the next in the queue. it has a 3 car garage with room for a proper shop, in one of the nicest areas of Indy.

porsche4life 12-01-2014 10:23 AM

That is a cool place, and room for a shop is great. Do it! ;)

Isn't that the place her Chinese businessman husband built for her and they immediately divorced? Seems some people I work with shot there before.

Can't remember if I've posted this before, but this is a cool website that list houses seen in film and TV.. TV/Movie Houses

Yeah, that's the one...Only I think the Chinese guy died. They used to film movies there frequently. I've been told she started hoarding and the place is full to the walls with boxes and junk. I haven't seen a movie crew there in three or four years.

I remember when all that land was undeveloped and you could ride dirt bikes all over the place.

Evidence of the old dirt bike trails are still on the undeveloped parcels. The whole area was subdivided into one and five acre lots. Few are left that don't have houses, avocados, or vineyards now.

Nostril Cheese 12-02-2014 12:06 PM

Its sad. They ruined most of what made that place great to begin with. Give it another 15 years and it will be the San Fernando Valley.
