For years I have flown a flag in front of my house out of respect for all veterans including my brother and dad. Some individuals thought it was odd and ask me why I displayed the flag so often. After hearing my explanation, there is now a group of American flags now lining my block.

What a beautiful thread, brought a tear right to my eye.
On this lovely sunny remembrance day I will raise a glass to my Grandad who died at Normandy and to my Great Grandad who was a victim of mustard gas in WW1 and suffered terribly for years afterwards.

I will be raising my glass to all veterans, both living and deceased, but especially My uncle Howard Hibbard who was killed in Germany at the end of WWII.

Veterans, by definition, are alive. For every soldier who has died in Iraq of Afghanistan, there are probably 50 who were injured or disabled.
This is their day, and it is a good day for us to ask ourselves, what can we do for them ? |
