Google's Motorola patents 'neck tattoo' smartphone accessory | Digital Trends
I can't imagine a tattoo that would be tied to one product or manufacturer, especially Google. This sound like a stupid idea. No doubt tattoo removal will be a big business soon. |
If you could get a tat that replaced all your credit, debt, insurance cards as well as your drivers license, passport, GOES card and housed all medical history as well as countless other docs including tax info and investments you may want at immediate dispoasl you would still reject it?
Say goodbye to wallets... |
You misunderestimate the sheer stupidity of people willing to get tattoos...

Black market sales of the tattoo reader will be solid.
When you get mugged, all your personal health and tax info is stolen, not only the contents of your wallet and the watch on your wrist. |
or maybe if its tied into your DNA as a lock then it would work.

Heinlein thought this crap up in 1951.
Google fail. |
I'm sure the adoption rate among Jews and other older Eastern Europeans will be quite low.

OK, reading the article it seems that it is a tattoo that relays voice vibrations to your smartphone.
If I understand that correctly it doesn't have to be the bar code on the back of your neck (like that in the picture... obviously used for shock value). I wonder it it could be any type of tattoo anywhere on your neck that could pick up vibrations? "If you think a Bluetooth headset makes you look like a tool, how about replacing it with a … throat tattoo? That’s right, a throat tattoo. Google-owned Motorola has received a patent for a smartphone-connected system “that comprises an electronic skin tattoo capable of being applied to a throat region of a body.” According to the patent, which was published last week, the “electronic neck tattoo” connects to a smartphone via a “transceiver” similar to the way a Bluetooth headset, smartwatch, or Google Glass device would pair with a handset. It would have its own power supply and can be outfitted with a microphone, which would allow you to control your phone using only voice commands."
