Tom Cruise........
![]() Tom Cruise should be picked up by his nuts and dropped behind the Taliban lines and he will see how tough it is in Afganistan. I will NEVER pay for, or even bother to watch one of his movies again. ![]() |

It's fake. He never said what was passed around on facebook. At least according to an article I read about it. Trying to find it now.

OK can't find where I read it but the article was pretty much just stating it was a misquote but who knows.

Please don't talk about Maverick like that, he has a wide range of emotion. He worked tirelessly on the jaw muscle flex and should have gotten an Oscar for it.

I made that decision many years ago and it had nothing to do with his off-screen antics.

Surely he's not that stupid!
![]() Regardless of what you think of him as a person/actor he is a master of the movie business and promotion. But then again some big Hollywood stars have done some really dumb stuff... Like Mel Gibson. From the latest Machete movie. ![]() ![]()

Not a big Tom Cruise fan either, but when you read what he actually said it bears almost no resemblance to how it was spun.
Evidently he was being accused of "abandonment" relative to his daughter (custody proceedings) because he was overseas on a movie shoot and didn't attend her first day of kindergarten or something. He made the analogy that if that (missing his daughter's event due to being overseas on a brutal schedule-intensive movie shoot) was grounds for abandonment, then people serving in the military should be guilty of abandonment also. Somehow that was spun as "acting is just as hard as fighting in wars". ![]()

When will people learn to seek facts before shooting?
Have never seen a TC movie that I didn't like. All the Mission Impossible flicks, 4th of July, etc were good entertainment and family-friendly. |

He can't act. He is a one dimensional shallow persona. There's a lot less than what you see. If the script fits, he's great at being Tom Cruise. However, he sucks at being anyone else.

Lawyer: "Now, your counsel has publicly equated your absence from Suri for these extended periods of time as being analogous to someone fighting in Afghanistan. Are you aware of that?"
Cruise: "I didn't hear the Afghanistan, but that's what it feels like, and certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal." Read more: Tom Cruise -- My Job's As Hard As Fighting in Afghanistan | TMZ.com

Agree here, although I haven't seen them all and am not entirely sure about them all being family-friendly. I liked Jack Reacher and Oblivion most recently. I think he's a good actor, too. Sorry haters.

Quote:
"the notion that Tom compares his acting to fighting a war is a distortion, pointing to a section in the deposition -- not part of the deposition that was publicly released -- in which Tom is asked, "Do you believe the situations [being in a movie and fighting a war in Afghanistan] are the same?" Tom replies, "Oh come on." Fields says that clearly means "of course not."
