400lb, 6'5" HS runnigback...

Y! SPORTS

I remember growing up playing sandlot tackle with much older kids and the way we always brought down kids 3 to 4 times bigger was going low, wrapping up the legs and knees. Mind you a foot to the lip sucked but shyt happened.

I'm looking at the linebackers here and all are going high on this guy. I would take him out at the pins. Just saying.

Doesn't take a whole lot of athletic ability to be him. This would be like one of us running the ball against a bunch of 80 lb. children, in terms of weight differential. He should not be allowed to play, there should be size restrictions.

If he has anything like commensurate strength to his size, other kids are not trying to stop his legs because it's a good way to get stomped and really hurt. The whole "go low" thing only works when the guy is a *little bigger*, like say 50 lbs. He outweighs the other kids by 250 lbs.

You can't restrict someone because of their size. If he has the ability to survive practice and make the squad then he can play. The defense just has to adapt and overcome. When I played in school I was 230 so this guy has me by a few hundred. Big deal he can get hit just as easily as the next guy can and to be honest I would rather go against someone his size, big and slow is easy to take down.
I played defensive end and tackle, I always hated the little fast people.....

Any coach worth a salt would see that he is a one trick pony. Only short hand offs up the middle. Ya he is a lot bigger than everyone else. Calvin Johnson is a lot bigger than most of the DB's he plays against too...should he not be allowed to play?

Yep, it would suck to play against someone that big and the other teams probably get their asses kicked if they can't figure out a way to stop him. Maybe they shouldn't play the game at all and everyone should just get ribbons for "almost" participating.

If he gets to a college program, he will play left tackle. Kinda silly to have him anywhere else.

A good college program would put him on a weight lose program.

I remember a game in HS where I tried to hit a guy like that in the knees. I mean, I remember it up until that play.

"Big Tone" will be lucky if his knees/ankles/hips/heart last another 2-3 years.

It's hard to tell but he looks too slow to play left tackle. Put your biggest guys on the d line and clog up the works then gang tackle like no tomorrow. He's going to break a few but he wont get far.

I felt sorry for the kid. No apparent (from the video) athletic talent. He is going to get crushed unless someone who really cares steps in.

Agreed. He'll get seriously injured if he makes it to college football somehow and the 300 pounders who are tough as nails get ahold of him.

He needs a coach that cares more about him than about winning.

I played a lot of pick-up basketball with "Fridge" Perry when he was in high School and college, just over 300lbs.

The difference was that Perry was a sensational athlete, could easily dunk and was one of the fastest kids at his high school. The young man in the video needs to lose weight.

I played against his brothers and cousins in basketball in high school when my family moved to SC my senior year. I got to know them all very well. They were all talented and fine folks.

I can't see him playing any position in D1 college football.

It looks like he must go to small school in a fairly small area. Those other kid on the football team look tiny. If you go to any larger high school in metro areas (not to mention HS football crazy places like Texas), there are plenty of other 6'2"+ and 250+ lb players on the varsity field that are very strong and athletic.

My version was with "Tootie" Robbins back in college . Pushing 300 and had a pretty decent career in the NFL afterwards...one of the most congenial, likeable guys you'd ever meet. I ALWAYS wanted to be on Tootie's team...when he set a "pick", he set a PICK! Don't remember how "Tootie" got his name though....I think it was from his childhood and he never lost it...
