930 VIN numbers

I have a 77 930 which was stolen and the VIN number plate on the A pillar behind the windshield was snapped off, and the vin plate in the front trunk section was cut out, car is now recovered and I'm trying to restore. (Tail section appeared for sale on Pelican)
Does anyone know if there are other VIN number stampings anywhere else on that model of 930?
Thanks for any input.

Not sure on them fancy newfangled 6 cylinder cars with 12 volt electrics, but on teh 356 the last 2 digits were stamped in quite a few places (engine cover latch, hood latch, chalk inside door panels, etc). Not sure if 10+ years later in production everything was hand fitted as closely (which is why the various parts were numbered with last 2 of chasis/vin number)

Good luck!

Years ago I had a 1986 911 with a damaged vin plate on the windshield pillar. I was able to order a replacement from the dealer. The dealer had to look over the car and verify the other numbers were present. I believe there is at least one number under the dash pad . If I recall another similar thread that number might not be a vin but the dealer used it to verify what the vin was supposed to be. Have you asked a dealer service dept where all the numbers are?

On my 87' 930, there is a vin number under the truck carpet above the gas tank and below the smugglers box. The number is stamped.

Hope this helps.

Four possible places there was a VIN number, depending on the market it was built for:

Front trunk floor
right inner fender tag
A pillar tag
left B pillar label.

That's about it.

The production sequence number is stamped on the dash, behind the lower trim and usually written in grease pencil on the dash top sheet metal and the inside sheet metal of both doors. This doesn't match the VIN but Porsche can correlate the two numbers.

That's probably all you got in 1977.
