What a crock of crap! The current rules forcing these kids to play for scraps are retarded! The kid wasn't "playing basketball" he was taking one shot for a randomly selected fan at a pro game!

More proof of the NCAA's enslavement of collegiate athletes. Such a shame...

Seems to me it was a game of chance. More like gambling than getting paid.

The NCAA can stop him from playing college basketball if he takes the money, but I don't see how they can stop him from taking the dough. If he wants the money, take it, screw the NCAA.

I don't know what the answer is to college athletes not being able to earn any money. The current system is BS. Everyone else is raking in millions and all the kids get is poverty and pain and the access to a college education. It is a very complex problem but the system not fair as it is.

allow him to take the money only as a scholarship, its a win win for everyone (if he already has a scholarship (full ride) then he should just get the money)

I wonder if he can have it put into an annuity until after he is finished school? or donate it to his favorite charity. His family.:D

Baseball has minor league pro teams and college baseball is no where near the money makers football and basketball are. Non-NFL/NBA pro football and basketball haven't fared too well though. I wonder - if only real student athletes played college ball and the prostudent college athletes went to minor leagues, would minor league football and basketball be popular enough to pay these kids a decent salary? A a very complex problem indeed.
