Making Friends After 30
|
Yep
|
Mostly true, though we have made a number of friends with other families through my kids in school, as well as work. Maybe not to the same degree as my college friends, but we have a number of couples that we will go out with or get together as families. Friendship does exist after marriage and kids, but it definitely changes.

That's why we hang out here! Haha ...
The article is spot on. One big reason I do not need a lot of friends is being married with kids. My wife is a good friend and time can be easily spent with just the family unit. The older I get, the more I also enjoy time by myself. Be it in the woods or in the garage. G |
i know exactly why it is difficult for me to make new friends. real friends, not work friends. and it is definitely me. my wife stated it best: "you are a bit abrasive. its a defense mechanism. people can't see past that." so there you have it. the last really good friend i made was about ten years ago, in my early thirties. we still hang out and talk cars and guns and politics. its been interesting.

I moved to Oklahoma when I was in my mid twenties. I did not know one person in town except my Grandparents. I loved them dearly but they were not a lot of fun to hang with.
I got involved with the local Porsche Club and I have met many good friends over the years. The same with the El Camino club, astronomy club, and computer club. I never went to college and never had a close buddy like the movies and TV shows. I have many friends and my biggest problem is not calling or getting together often enough. |
