Amber Turn signals reduce rear end collisions
Interesting read in this months Road & Track. Essentially states going from a red to amber turn signal reduces rear end collisions by 5.3% and 25% more effective than adding an additional brake light. Plus I think amber lenses look more correct on 911's...

I read that article, too. I've been wanting to change my red ones on the 78 SC to amber, so now I'd better get to it before all the amber lenses get sold out !

I got pulled over in my Unimog a couple of years ago allegedly for not having red brake lights - he let me go with a warning; I think he just really wanted to check out the truck.
I looked up the actual rules on it in California https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=VEH§ionNum=24603 (e) (1) Stoplamps on vehicles manufactured on or after January 1, 1979, shall emit a red light. Stoplamps on vehicles manufactured before January 1, 1979, shall emit a red or yellow light. ![]()

Color schemes on training aircraft, UAV's, fire trucks, etc. have been an ongoing source of finding the right combination:

Since my 911 is tiny and simultaneously super-visible and invisible, two of my safety-related upgrades to it were going to LEDs and amber rear turn signals. Bonus is the ambers look better. Next is an LED CHMSL.

I don't recall the last time I saw someone actually use a turn-signal, LOL A fortune in fines could be made just pulling people over for not using them. Or...if they do use them, they are left on...for miles and miles, leaving you wondering just when they will change lanes...or worse, change lanes/turn the other direction.
But, yes, Euro/amber is cool on a 911
