Medical weed

Well, much like Rob Ford, this mountie thinks it fine to smoke weed at work. He's got some sort of medical problem. His superiors wouldn't let him light up while wearing his Red uniform. Now his whining, boo hoo.

I'm probably wrong, but I feel this mountie dude should know better, but since they legalized it, he'll probably sue our a**es off.

In my opinion, legalizing weed takes all the fun out of it. It should be done on the sly, like it always and for ever will be, amen

Attention whore, nothing more.
If he kept it on the QT, used a smoking jacket, etc. no one would have been the wiser.

Only medical weed is legal, weed use is still illegal here, cops turn a blind eye to weed unless you're being stupid.
This guy may have legal medical weed, but he's still being stupid.

The wife and I think he was denied permanent disability and this is his retaliation.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

In Washington State, the police are being trained to look for signs of marijuana intoxication. The person is asked to blow into a breathalizer, and if they exceed the legal limit, then they are legally intoxicated. That would be grounds for discipline and termination from an employer where intoxication puts lives at risk.

He'll go through the disciplinary process until he's fired. He'll get disability if his diagnosis meets the disability criteria, but he is not helping his case...

Actually smoking pot is NOT illegal here but possession and distribution is is. (without a prescription and that,s not that easy to get)
The officer claims ptsd and has a legal prescription for the weed to calm his nerves I suppose.
That said I don,t agree with what he is doing and read today the RCMP has seized his uniforms.
So now he is a "plain clothes" legally pot smoking mountie

This guy is on medical leave due to PTSD he got while on the job. He is smoking medical weed as legally prescribed by a DR. There is no specific prohibition to wearing the red serge while taking medication. He is not doing anything illegal.

Having said that, this guy clearly has an axe to grind; a hidden agenda.

We hire these good men and women for their ability uphold law and order. We train them at great expense, provide them with hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment and allow them to carry a firearm. We count on their ability to carry out their duties with honour and dignity.

The red serge uniform is largely ceremonial and enjoys a great tradition. Notwithstanding the disgrace this guy shows the uniform, he also displays astoundingly bad behaviour as a role model. For the average bystander who doesn't know the facts, he is just another cancer in an organization that is already plagued with difficulty.

The RCMP has acknowledged the fact that he has done nothing wrong and only asked for the uniform back. What the guy is guilty of is poor judgement. Good judgement is a key element of a good LEO. Without it, it doesn't matter how good the guy is in the field.
