Any APP developers?

Hey brain trust, anyone out there know how to write apps? I've got a few I'd like to create but my friend who got me started thinking about this informed me he's not able to do anything for a year. I've looked at the sites that'll charge to build it etc and read the "simple tutorials" that basically say learn objective c (uhh ok...) Anyway if anyone out there is interested lemme know, thanks :)

What platform? Apple you can register as a developer and there are tons of free vids on there to get you started.

Yes, learn objective C. Then learn the intracacies of iOS.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to anything that will do iOS development :(

But... I do know the instructor at work who teaches the class. I'll ask her if she has a stellar student...

Don't try doing this yourself unless you're a hard-core programmer. There are lots of great app developers based in India who can build an app for you for a couple hundred bux on up. You can find them on Guru.com.

I've also tried all the stuff you can buy and download for your Mac, iPad, etc. to build apps. IMHO, they're all worthless.

You are terribly vague in what you want to do, sort of like the Obama Care website it seems? If this is to be an internet based application then you should consider the following:
- what do you want it to do?
- How many users will be using it any one time?
- Will any data be saved and if so what database will you use? If this is a "real" system then either Oracle or MS SQL Server, stay away from MySQL as it has terrible security. If you want to use a "cloud" system, you will be milked dry!
- Where will the application run, should be on their own app server, on it's own sub net.
- Where will the database run, on it's own server, own sub net, etc.

Finally, who is going to run and tune and manage this since it is not something you can easy do w/o some experience. Several years ago I had a husband and wife in a couple of my computer business classes and they wanted to do this and had little experience. They got a loan, hired a couple of experts and now have "On Line Booty Call" running well!

Good luck.

I've got a great contact for you, but I will need a bit more info. If you have an idea, and need a team of developers to create the app, PM me. But yes, of course, you will be charged. If your idea is some gang busters great idea, then you could work development costs into a long term arrangement. But you need to be more specific.

Thanks for the replies. Motion I checked out that site, it looks promising. John, don't really know how to answer most if that, hence the vague question and real need for an expert to help. HD I'll send you a pm with some details soon.

Anyone looking to make money with a mobile application should consider developing apps that are cross platform (HTML5/jQuery) rather than going with a vendor specific (iOS/Android) implementations.
