Engine Oil Extractor
 

I am not planning to use an oil extractor on anything that I can drain it out of, but our new boat with a Mercruiser 4.3MFI requires an oil extractor to get the oil out of the engine.The one I am leaning to is the Moeller 5.0 Liter Fluid Extractor Oil Change Pump.

I have the Motive extractor that I use for my 4.3 Mercruiser. It works well but is SLOW, as in over an hour to extract under 5 qts of warm oil. I don't know if mine isn't working correctly or is simply flow limited by the little tube that shoves down the dipstick hole.

Haven't used it yet because I still have free oil changes on the Abarth.

I've got the same one (and the Moeller looks similar toe the Motive extractor) and I agree that it is slow going on the extraction. It helps to keep pumping every 5 minutes or so to keep the vacuum level up.

For hand pumped extractors, ensuring there are no vacuum leaks and extracting oil at operating temp makes things much more time efficient. Small vacuum leaks are difficult to notice.

Mine holds the vacuum very well and is new this year, so I don't think it is a wear thing. I just start the engine oil extraction then go change the oil in the out drive, change the fuel filter, etc.

I bought the west marine one and it will suck out warm oil quite quick. The size of suction hose will have a lot to do with evacuation rate.

We bought the harbor freight one.... It's still in the box so idk how well it works. Didn't get to use the jetski much this season...

But aren't you limited by what will fit down the dipstick tube? I don't think the hose with mine could be any bigger.

The one I bought operates on compressed air to create a powerful venturi vacuum for draining fluids from tanks and reservoirs. Compressed air hose attaches at base for stability. No hand-pumping.
