Poll...are you right or left handed?

Couple of recent threads have me curious...

flatbutt 12-07-2013 01:14 PM

this is one time I don't mind admitting that I'm bi.

I voted left handed because I write with the left, but I do a lot of things right handed. Right handed: Golf, shoot guns, use scissors, finger bang... Left handed: write, throw and bat. I find it strange that I golf right handed and it feels natural but I feel awkward holding and swinging a baseball bat right handed.

I can change hands when the other gets tired. Does that make me ambidextrous?

Naw....just oversexed :p

Surprised at the poll thus far...I too go "both ways" depending upon the task at hand, but it's either/or (for me), as I'm not equally adept with both.

ps: For those that don't "get" the amphibious part...that goes back to a "not so bright" college basketball player from years ago...

I am right handed for everything. I had heard and this is a generalization that left handed people have high intelligence. It seems so far that there are more left handed people on this board than I anticipated. I could google it.....:)

Lefty with occasional right tendencies.

Don't PARF this thread Jim :D. (Same here btw.) I remember many times sitting around in an IT meeting and noticing the higher percentage of lefties (probably closer to 50% compared to the 10% in the general population). To be clear, I don't think that correlates to "intelligence" per se, but it certainly follows a pattern of being adept at math, logic, etc. imo.

I've been right-handed ever since the Catholic Nuns stopped using the ruler on my left hand.

dewolf 12-07-2013 02:45 PM

I'm right handed. The only thing I can do with accuracy with my left hand is shoot. I cannot aim for squat with my right hand.

imcarthur 12-07-2013 02:47 PM

Right. But I mouse with my left due to carpal so my left usability has improved dramatically over the last 5+ years.

Left hand dominate - adapted to a right handed world. The only two things I can think that is natural for a lefty is driving and flushing a toilet.

first or second grade I lost use of my right arm for maybe a year or two after a nasty lawn mower accident. I had to learn to do everything left handed. somethings I still do right handed. other things only with my left although I could do it either way if needed. bored in college I would take notes right handed one page and left on the the other page. sometimes backwards upside down and the opposite way on the right the same time.
found a note book from a notory class I took in the 80s and another from a real estate course under other books I had saved for some reason. thumbing thru the pages I had to turn the book all around or hold it infront of a mirror to read what I had written. hmmm maybe if I had spent less time learning to write so wierd and spent more time studying the notes maybe things might have turned out different later in life.. nahhh not many people ever develop cool skills so difficult to master but completely useless to have. divinci wrote his notes backwards to keep others from reading them. he was a genius. I wrote my notes in so many directions I couldn't read them. I'm an idiot

timr912 12-07-2013 03:43 PM

Left handed all the way

Z-man 12-07-2013 03:49 PM

I am pretty much ambidextrous.

What I use:
Write - left
Mouse - right
Tennis - left
Basketball - right
Bowl - left
throw - right
Scissors - left
shoot - both
fine motor skills - both

I'm either ambi, or just pretty messed up...

Of course it does!

DARISC 12-07-2013 04:34 PM

I have an ambidextrous friend who is an orthopedic surgeon. He told me that he's "truly" ambidextrous and named a simple way to test for "true" ambidexterity.

Before I reveal it, anyone here know what that test is? :)

recycled sixtie 12-07-2013 04:35 PM

I googled it and lefties have a disproportionately higher incidence of IQ above 140........

So from the survey above can one conclude I am in an elite group of individuals?:)
