Complete running engine removed from a 1970 bus 12v 1600cc single port with no end play, doesn't smoke or leak oil. The engine sounds excellent and fires right up every time it has a new 009 dist we ran a compression check and all 4 cylinders are at 8:1. It has a generator that charges like its supposed to we tested it also. This engine is sold as is but can see and hear run before purchase. $775

Curious how you run a compression ratio check. :eek:

You take the ratio of the volume of the cylinder at the bottom of the stroke vs. the volume at the top of the stroke.

Oh, you mean you want to know if it's leaky or not?

Use a compression tester. Do it with the engine warm, throttle open and spark disabled....This will be a reading in lbs, not a CR ratio......

Standard compression test can be thought of as a compression ratio test. I m guessing they got 8 ATM of pressure on the compression test. It may not be the best way of stating it but in the context of Craig list its not too bad

Clearly, they ran a "book compression check."

It's a much faster, cleaner and easier check than a standard compression check, which involves all of the steps as eloquently described by LakeCleElum.

8atm is roughly 118psi...yeah, that might be what they meant
