Don't you hate it when you don't have time to fix the truck....
 

My 01 F150 has been a great truck for 210,000 miles but I've got a misfire issue that I don't have time to fix (working 7 days a week).

I did get new plugs in before work yesterday.

I'll have to drop it off at the indy to have him diagnose and repair. I suspect a bad coil on plug. He charges $96 for each cop plus install, so I'll have him replace the bad one. I'll order the rest and install when I can.

While its there, I'll have him check the squeak in the front end.

The good news is we have places to take our vehicle to.

I just had the exact same thing on my 2000 F-150. It would come and go. It never threw a code.

Turned out to be a spark plug wire that had worn through, and was grounding against the frame. Ask him to check the wires before going after the coils.

I may suck it up and have him replace all cops. After 210k, they have to be on their last legs. Probably have him do an injection cleaning while its there too.

All ice done is replace an alternator at 150k and the trans at 200k, so the truck doesn't owe me anything. Knock on wood. It's been a good reliable truck.

My 2001 Chevy has 0ver 230,000 miles now, and still has the original starter and alternator.
Factory brake pads almost made it to 200k.

Changed belts & hoses at 100,000, am way past due for the 200,000 belt & hose replacement.

Outside of oil changes, tires, and some work in the T-case not long ago, it has been maintenance free.
Definately time to give it a thorough look-see and replace some items.

I've been thinking of replacing the water pump, as its the original. Belts, hoses, etc. have been swapped out over the years.

At 100K, I became the "mechanic" for my bro-in-laws 2005 GMC Denali. Front and rear brakes, shocks all around, water pump and CV axles/wheel bearings on both sides. POS..... but hey, it's a Denali!!!! Oh and the rear bumper is about to rust off.

I know what you mean, My 99 diesel 4x4 superduty is currently dead in the driveway and unable to crank over. I bought new 1000CCA batteries in the Spring and a new starter recently, but still just clicks when the key is turned. I need to clean all the connections related to the starter and batteries, but we keep getting a coupla inches of snow every day with 15 degrees and wind. I'm ready to stop driving the Porsche in this mess.

The Indy said the car was running fine when they went to test it today. Figures. :rolleyes:

I had a few other issues as well, such as rear brake pads and rotors, front pads and rotors and left front lower control arm ball joint for $1350. I took a half day off and did it all for about $400 in parts.
