Just Say "No" to Yes

Well, they did it again - the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame passed up Yes for induction this year. I cannot believe they have not long since been inducted; it would be hard to come up with a more influential, respected band in their particular genre of rock'n'roll. What's keeping them out? There are far more obscure bands who have contributed far less to music than these guys who have gotten in.

Read the list of eligible bands/individuals that have been snubbed. It's hard to believe some of the names on the list.

Sort of makes the Hall of Fame somewhat meaningless.

Yup. They passed up Deep Purple this year as well.

Buckterrier 12-17-2013 07:26 AM

Maybe the same reason as they've kept the Moody Blues out. The editors of Rolling Stone rag has a hair up their ass for them? They need room for Public Enemy, Abba, etc. etc.

A buddy & I are doing a small MLB tour next year to Pitt, Cleveland, Detroit, & Cincy. While in Cleveland I'm picketing the R&R Hall of Shame.

I had no idea how the process worked, but I found this article interesting:

Political strategists form bipartisan campaign to get Yes into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - The Washington Post

I like yes, but Boston and deep purple deserve to get inducted first.

How can this not be worthy?

How can you take the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame serious at this point.;)<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ncAk15x0l8Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

sammyg2 12-17-2013 08:19 AM

Oh Yeah, Yusuf Islam (cat stevens) with his few moderate hits and linda "I ate cleveland" rondstadt deserve to be inducted first .....

No way to explain that without PARFing up this thread so I'll let it go.

Rush, the moody blues, SRV, or the Guess Who might still be able to buy their way in, as long as they agree to perform at certain political fund raisers or at least donate big money from their foundation.

romad 12-17-2013 08:24 AM

Not much of a "rock and roll" hall fame based on passed inductees

craigster59 12-17-2013 08:27 AM

The RRH is as relevant to rock and roll as modern FM radio is to good music.

ledhedsymbols 12-17-2013 08:33 AM

Unfortunately, what one thinks when discussing the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" does not match what is really "Rock and Roll" to many people. C'mon, how long did it take to get Rush in? Lets look at some REAL rock acts... Ozzy, Boston, Judas Priest, Iron Effing Maiden! How are they not it... They really should call it the Watered Down Pop Artist with the Occasional Nod to Real Rock Thrown In Hall of Fame. SRV isn't in fer crissakes!

Hah, I actually have the studio album on right now. Felt like a Yes day. Started the morning with The Yes Album.

Close To The Edge is one of my all time favorite albums, throws me into epileptic fits trying to figure out the time signatures.

Have seen them live 6 or so times.

Absolutely brilliant musicians both in technical skills as well as innovative.

They never disappoint.

Rusty Heap 12-17-2013 08:53 AM

Higster,

Later today I'll go put this big black round disk thingy called an Album onto my rotary planer rotation machine device and scratch it with a needle.

Be careful to not drop it, the album is Fragile.

he heh.

Rusty Heap 12-17-2013 08:59 AM

Unlike an Album, here's a internet link for those who want to listen to the whole Fragile Album over those cold flat sounding data bits of 1's and 0's.........

god I'm good at air guitar and air drums.

I always saw Stevie Ray Vaughn as more of a blues artist. They have their own hall of fame, don't they? Is he in it?

Isn't Johnny Cash the only guy in all three "major" halls of fame? I know two of them are country and rock'n'roll, but isn't the third blues? Or is it gospel or something? Now here was a rock and roller who deserved to get in...

wdfifteen 12-17-2013 09:27 AM

I saw the nominees this morning. KISS is going in? What about The Archies and The Monkees? They were the trailblazers of that genre.

I could not believe Linda Ronstandt wasn't already in.

fastfredracing 12-17-2013 10:38 AM

A travesty of justice. The library of incredible yes songs is endless.

The rock and roll hall of fame is a joke. We used to go there from time to time to burn up a winters day , it is only 2 hours away from home, but I don't see myself going back any time soon . They do have a few cool exhibits, Janis's 356, roy orbisons 427 vette, Jimi Pages dragon suit, Jerry's guitar etc...

you all are arguing over who gets "honored" with a picture on a wall at a theme park for aging baby boomers.

Nostril Cheese 12-17-2013 12:40 PM

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has no credibility. Never did. It's the Rolling Stone Hall of Fame.

How relevant is Rolling Stone nowadays?
