Can anyone help me date a Guyatone Guitar

I believe this is a early Guyatone LG-60. But I have yet to find a picture of another LG-60 with this type of pickguard. My friend that owns it says the serial number that he can make out on it is 003 or 009. Thanks for any help in advance.

Can he get the pickguard off and get numbers off of the pots? That might help narrow it down a little bit.

Fwiw, he was originally asking $800. for it, which depending on the year model may be too much to ask. On the other hand, if it is an early LG-60 it will probably be worth three times what he is asking for it...

Dressing up and showing up at the door with flowers and chocolates is great for Girlatone guitars. For Guyatone it depends, not that there's anything wrong with that. J/K Bill, Merry Christmas!

Looks like an early one based on the hardware, pickups and pick guard. Not many records on those and serial #s were sketchy. Very low demand among collectors because of this but a cool piece of history. I don't think I would pay more than $200 for it.

Where do you think that you would price an early one like that? Edit: Oops, okay about $200.

It might be worth more to someone else but I have no personal interest in this guitar.

I like the way Guyatone sort of copied the Les Paul for the body, borrowed the neck and headstock from what resembles a Rickenbacker look.

No, I didn't mean to imply you did, I was just asking what you thought it was worth, I didn't see where you had put that it was worth about $200.. Thanks for the information! I will pass it along tomorrow.

They were really the first guitar makers in Japan and quality varied widely over the years. Some were really nice players and some were pretty awful. Many of their 70s clone guitars were really very good and I think this was their heyday for quality instruments.
