Pension Question for Ex Postal Workers
Worked 12 years with them (85-97 so under FERS system) so I know I've got pension sitting somewhere but don't know what happens next so I'm looking for some good info. Does this get added to my SS benefits (if there's any left for me when my time comes)? I heard I can take a payout but I cannot make contact with any Postal Service office (automated voice messages) nor are there any useful info on their website (figures). Thanks in advance.

try your union office
SS is separate from pensions you should get the full amount of both |

I dunno. I'm under the FERS program, as well, but my understanding is I don't get jack until I hit retirement age, AND have enough time invested in the program. By the time I reach what they calculate my retirement age at...I'll have 40 years in
![]() Google EBIS. I'm sure you might be able to find some info there on how the pension works.

. Figures! . . Good luck, though.

I retired under the FERS, however not via the post office. I believe you will start receiving your pension when you hit your SS retirement age. I think a good place to start figuring this out would be with OPM (opm.gov).
