Really nice diecast cars are like crack

I have been collecting 1/18 diecast stuff for a few years. Got some 911s from Autoart and other makers (Minichamps '83 coupe, Cab and Targa) plus a nice silver Autoart 356 Speedster with Rudge wheels. Every Christmas I surf diecast on eBay and buy a couple for my son and then a couple for myself as a kind of "Merry Christmas to me" thing. This morning I nabbed the Autoart 1950 356 and their Lamborghini Aventador for my collection. I chose red for the Lambo and silver for the pre-A coupe because I liked the color of the interior although the black version does look pretty good. The Autoart Bugatti Veyrons are tempting but pretty spendy. These are just stock photos BTW.

My name is Rob, and I'm an addict. A little over 1000 Porsche models.

If you want to try the "hard stuff"......get a model made by Exoto

Not THAT bad of a problem.......We downsized a couple years ago and I've been selling them off a few at a time. Most for way more than I paid for them. I had the collection insured for 80K and have sold close to 50K worth and I still have about 500 models left!

Yeah Rob, I have been looking through the Exoto offerings and have been tempted by their Porsches and 289 Cobras.

I've got a few of the EXOTO Porsches that I'm not selling. Tempting though since most of them have been retired and are now going for stupid money. I'm still buying once in awhile and recently got the AUTOart Porsche F1 car from the early 60s....it is incredible!

I'm pissed at myself, a little over a year ago, there were 1 or 2 of the 934 and 935 model Exotos that could be had on sale for $98. I did manage to get a 917/30 for $98, but didn't pick up the others because they take up so much space and cost a fair amount for something that I can't do anything with. Now, they are back up to $300-800. I would have really liked a 934 and 935. The 917 is cool too.

Exoto has a couple of late 60s Lotus F1 cars that they have been advertising for $98 recently. I'm tempted. I really like the models right before they started adding wings.

These collections can own you. Mausram said it best. Lots of dough for something that doesn't do anything.

I've been looking for a silver BMW M1 for years. I found one in a weird blue, and a white one, but not silver...

This '73 RS by Autoart is on my list now. Wish it had the Carrera door scripts.

Some of you guys need to go to a self help group as you've got real addiction problems

Herr, love your German silver themed collection

I'm slowly building up my own themed collection which will be very special to me which I will eventually hand down and share between my two kids.

After being given a few 1/18 Minichamps models over the years I thought it would be a good idea to keep going with this scale but quickly realised it was all going to get too spendy and take up too much space.

Started collecting 1/43 Minichamps properly this year, usually pick them off Ebay when I see them without their original packaging but I'm now starting to pay full prices

Not really thought about how best to display them and to allow for further expansion but it will probably be in the style of a very long racing grid starting from earliest car to latest

I'll post some pics of the one I'm working on now. It's an R Gruppe/Magnus kind of ride!

Ahab.....I have a bunch of 1/43rd Porsches I want to sell. Too many to list so just let me know what you are wanting. 356s, 911s, 917s, etc.

Thanks for thinking of me RKT,

The models you have sound interesting but I've first got to buy up all the different cars I've worked on and as most were driven by two drivers it racks up to quite a few.

I can already see these costing me too much already so sell away your unwanted Porsche models.

Please post up the car your working on
