Toronto had a 2 day ice storm that just wouldn't stop. We lost power at 9AM yesterday & ended up canceling a Christmas dinner with my kids. I could have managed the cooking (gas stove + grill) but it was getting cold in the house as the temperature dropped. We resurrected our little used fireplace & huddled to keep warm until 9PM when power was restored. 250,000 households were without & some might not get power until after Christmas. Big swaths of the city are a mess with downed branches etc.

This is my neighbor's (aka the Terrorist's) front yard. His maple tree has seen better days. He is down south somewhere & will come home to a big surprise. All the trees in our area have damage & some roads have become ice-covered obstacle courses.

We lost some big limbs from some maples in the back yard but they will keep until I get to them on a warm day.

You guys in T.O. (Imcarthur) are having it worse than us, but it's coming our way this week. My daughter lives in TO so we get reports all the time and she is scheduled to fly home Boxing day but I fear flights will be still be hit and miss with long delays due to the dreaded "de-icing" line-ups

This winter is not much fun (so far)

Merry Christmas to ya'll.

Went out for a bike ride at 7am. It was about 40-45 degrees. I had on a light long sleeve jersey and shorts on. Half an hour into the ride, I started stripping off the layer and was in short sleeve. By the end of the ride, around 11, it was 65 degrees with little wind.

I just came in from a bike ride around the neighborhood. My outdoor thermometer located on the north side of the house says it's 74* right now.
Merry Christmas to all you guys back east with the snow, and keep those pictures coming so I can appreciate the weather here even more.

Frost everywhere this morning in Houston, but still above freezing.

Hell hasn't quite frozen over...

Went outside last night and threw a pot of boiling water up in the air (-40C here). Really cool, instant vaporization.
