Hello,

I just picked up an 01 Sequoia for a DD / Ski rig / Camping / Etc truck. I would like to find a quality online parts supplier as well as an intelligent DIY forum.

Any thoughts?

Yep, tundrasolutions.com is fantastic but yotatech.com is good too.

I have a 2001, coming up on 200k miles.

+1 on Tundrasolutions. I have had good luck with AutoZone and ******** along with the Toyota dealer for parts. I get the pink coolant at Amazon.

Make sure you are careful with the transmission. The OD planetary is weak on these. If you tow, take it out of OD. Change the fluid every 20k (drain and refill pan). Other weak areas are the exhaust manifolds (crack), rear hatch handle, the 90k timing belt service, but otherwise a pretty solid truck!

A quick note on the tranny since you brought it up. They fixed the tranny issue in 2003/2004 or so (I can't recall). Everyone will tell you that the newer version will not bolt up or work at all in the 2000-2002 Tundra... they are wrong. Not only is the latter version stronger it is cheaper and easier to find in scrap yards. They are listed as incompatible because they spec a different fluid, that is all. So just put a note on the dipstick so quicky lubes don't mess that up and you're good to go. I got mine at a local wrecker for $300. Just an FYI.

lendaddy, that's correct. 2003 is what I remember for the better planetary bearing. I had mine rebuilt when it blew. With the updated planetary assembly. PO towed, which certainly had to do with the premature failure (122k).
