It was a bad week....

With all the talk around here of bad shootings and cops driving while talking on thier cell phones. Here are just four of the seven Cops killed in just this past week. They won't ever have to worry about either of those things, ....God speed to all seven of the officers and the 13 children left behind. Thank you for your service.

Corporal Kevin "Gale" Stauffer, Tupelo Police Department, Mississippi

May they rest in peace. Prayers sent for the families.

Thanks, Mike, for posting this.

RIP. I don't envy your job, and respect the hell out of those who risk their lives for the good of society. It's a shame that a small population of bad cops reflect poorly on all of you. The cops I know are all good men trying to support their families and make a difference in their communities.

Stay safe Michael, how soon till you are eligible for retirement?
For me just riding your motor daily in LA is too dangereous!

Sad for certain. We lost a NY state trooper the weekend before Christmas, routine stop and was hit by a trailer truck while in his car. 35 YO, very sad.

Amen!

Went to a memorial service on Xmas eve for my brother in laws brother. He was shot and killed last Christmas eve after a short pursuit following a routine traffic accident.

RIP Officer Jimmy Norman, he was one of the good guys.

It is no doubt a difficult job performed without thanks much of the time.

Thank you to all the good guys.

As much as most of us on here bash cops now and then, they have thankless jobs. For every bad one, there are a hundred good ones. They are still people with families like the rest of us on here. We need to remember that.

May they R.I.P.

creaturecat 12-27-2013 11:11 AM

gunned down. each and every one of them.
yikes.
may they rest in peace.

I agree 100% with Vinny's post.

There are many in law enforcement who do a thankless job and do it well.

Too bad the reputation is at times tainted by the bad apples, but given the nature of the job, perhaps it 'goes with the territory' - to coin a phrase.

Biggest problem I see is the judicial system is overloaded - too many repeat offenders let out early - or never imprisoned in the first place. That's not the cops' fault - that's the system's fault.

Lock up the bad guys and throw away the key. Sounds harsh but so are slain officers.

Thanks for the post Mike - stay safe.
