Silva is done for good. He may try to fight once more but his career is over

Saw stills of the break; how long is the recovery from something like that even?

Just read that he's already had successful surgery. Recovery time is 3-6 months, but I doubt he'll fight again.

That was an really ugly breakage. The video looks unreal. Like a rubber leg.

My wife did the same thing playing roller derby. Titanium rod down one of the bones. She was back on skates in 6 months. Then again, shes pretty damn tough.

That is a nasty break. It reminds me of the college basketball player in last years NCAA tournament that broke has leg during a game. Tough to watch!

As a former athlete (imagine many of us are) there is a point where you weigh the desire to perform against the impact on your body for your remaining years on the planet. You have to live with the damage and wear on your body for the rest of your life... that can quickly outweigh any financial or selfish desires. It wouldn't surprise me to watch him fight again at the highest level. I walked away from sport for 4yrs in my prime before returning for another shot. There's something surreal about suiting back up and going full speed. He may also have something to prove to himself one more time... first to focus on health.

I wonder if the UFC would allow him to compete if he has a permanent rod installed in his leg? I'm not sure what the repair process is for his specific injury buy I would think that would give him an unfair advantage???

He is a hell of a fighter but he is 39 and will most likely be 40 by time he has healed. I hope he calls it a career. I hate to see superstars go past their prime and end up getting knocked around.

He was leaning toward retiring before this fight. He place in MMA history is solid. I think he's done.
