Ham, the great New Years southern tradition! Wouldn't miss it.

masraum 01-01-2014 08:29 AM

On the stove right now, but what about the greens?

fintstone 01-01-2014 08:37 AM

Have that about once a week.

craigster59 01-01-2014 08:41 AM

Hoppin' John is one of my favorites!

Rot 911 01-01-2014 08:54 AM

Screw that. Heading out with some others for our New Year's Day motorcycle ride to a bar and grill for a burger and a beer. It's in the mid 30's but should make it home before it snows this evening!

My dad used to have italian sausage and a glass of wine in the morning.

Me: 2" thick Ribeye waiting for the grill!

May you have a new year filled with peace and joy.

Should be ready soon

Nickshu 01-01-2014 01:44 PM

Hoppin John is in the crock pot right now! Every year...delicious!

At son's today. Black eyed peas, ham, collard greens, mac n cheese and good company.

MMARSH 01-01-2014 02:17 PM

Yep. Had the same thing.......it was good.

Changed it up this year. Instead of the regular black eye peas and cabbage I cooked a Black eye Pea Sauce Pe quant, cabbage and home made yeast rolls.

Black-eyed peas, ham and cornbread

We ate lunch at a local restaurant that gave every customer a free cup of black eyed peas with every meal. Gotta have them black eyed peas on new years day.

dyount 01-01-2014 07:59 PM

Here in Central Pa it's got to be pork and sauerkraut. Of course with mashed potatoes... and German beer of course
