Snow!
It's 10º out and we got a lot of snow. It's hard to tell how much, as it has been windy so some spots are bare and then there are 3 foot drifts. I'd say 8"-12" is a safe bet.
Fortunately, when the snow stops, the wind is supposed to get even worse and the temperature is supposed to drop 30º. They are talking about wind chills of -70º tomorrow. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1388957424.jpg |
Chris, my place is closed tomorrow. Stay warm!
|
That's brutal. Stay warm.
|
Looks nasty.
i responded to the predictions of 8-12" of white death and prepared. I was so ready I was actually looking forward to it. All we've gotten so far is rain, which wiped out all the existing snow cover. Now it's supposed to get to -15 degrees and maybe 1" of insulating snow - during the temp drop. Even if they got it right enough for it to get down to 0, the lack of snow cover is going to stress the perennials in my garden. No strawberries next year. Garlic is questionable. Crap. |
When that front passes here tomorrow night we are looking at 0 deg and a wind chill of -20. I guess that would be a vacation for you guys. Stay safe, stay warm, and stay inside
|
Chris, I'm right there with you, just three hours east. Just got a text message that my office is closed. Shortly afterwards Fort Wayne (and surrounding counties) announced a state of emergency. Unless you are out for an emergency, you risk getting a ticket.
|
We have at least a foot. It wet and slushy but with the -35 degree F temps coming tonight, it will all be ice tomorrow!
|
The TV is going over the school districts that are closed. It's all of them. All of the local universities are closed, as well as all non-essential government agencies.
Got a call from work that the office is closed. No surprise. It's dangerous to be outside in any capacity. Clearing your driveway just to get to work is dangerous. I have a feeling that my street was only plowed because we have a detective living on it. Today marks the first time I ever really wished I had a 4 x 4. |
Under those circumstances it best to just stay inside and not risk any travel.

Bizarre. In the past couple of hours the rain stopped, the wind really kicked up, the temperature dropped by about 30 degrees, and a little snow is coming down. The snow is being blown around and is sticking to the ice on everything. All vertical and horizontal surfaces are covered in white. When I look out it is all white - white trees, white fence, white buildings - with a black sky.

-50 C (-58F) here this morning...we've had snow since the end of October....but hey the good news is we are about half way thru the winter here!!!!
Stay warm! |
Whats that White stuff in the pic?
Haha, I Always wanted to say that! Read it so many times from the dudes in Ca and Fl. We are having an extremely mild Winter so far. Actually not any snow at all and not below zero a single day. |
You guys make me feel pretty good. -3F and 2" of snow on the ground here is mild considering.....
|
We're going to see a 40+ degree drop between now and 2 AM, just freakin wonderful. Then the snow and wind as well.
|
Just talked to a very good friend on mine near Nashville, TN. It is 6 degrees there.
|
Holding steady at a balmy 46degF here; the rain has effectively melted all the snow we got last week.
Forcasted temps for the overnight are in the low single digits with a high temp not getting out of the low teens tomorrow. What a difference a day makes. |
Rained all night......changing to snow right now.
Currently 43*.....low tonight 4* |
-24 on the way to work today, just north of you Legion. We had lots of snow and blowing snow Saturday and I was fortunate enough to have the neighbor come down with his skid steer and cleared the entrance to our driveway before I got up so I only had a couple hours of work with the snow thrower to do. Gotta love good neighbors. Need to send him some cookies.

-22 here in sunny Wisconsin with a wind chill of -55. Gotta love it
