Source for 1950's Style Sign Letter Stencils

Hi all. - I'm looking to paint a custom (fake) advertising sign on the door sides of my '56 Rat rod/pro touring pickup.

I'm pretty creative and have in mind what I want it to look like. I want a period correct look to the signage and lettering. With a mix of block and script letter stencils @3" high. Then I will thin the paint and after drying block sand with 400 to get the aged look.

I cannot find any sources for these letter stencils to use a guide to accomplish what I want- OR - someone to custom make my sign where it is done and then I peel off the letters and fill in with paint and shading. Advice please - thanks!

You can go to a vinyl sign shop and they can cut you the stencil - you will have basically the 'shell' left over from cutting out the letters.

There are a bunch of places on the web that have free fonts - One of my favs is 1001 Free Fonts - here is a link to their 'retro' fonts
Retro Fonts - Page 1 - 1001 Free Fonts

You can download the fonts and create your own look.

Have you checked Michael's or Hobby Lobby? I just bought letter stencils to help my daughter with a project and was surprised at the selection. Google "stencil font" and see if you can find the type you're looking for. Seems like a sign shop could help with the layout and creating one large stencil.

Yup, a local vinyl shop should be able to do it.
