I get hot in my sleep, then I sleepwalk?

I'm not sure if I am sleepwalking, but I am noticing a pattern every now and again.

I just woke up at 4:40am this morning with the ceiling fan on full blast and I was cold. It was in the lowest setting when I went to sleep (in my comforter and heater on). I thought that was weird.

Then, I noticed a small light on the floor of my bedroom and I noticed that my laptop was plugged in. I'm 99.9% sure I unplugged it when I went to sleep. That's odd thing #2 this morning.

Sometimes, I wake up with the window wide open when I had completely shut when I went to sleep and I have no recollection of ever opening it. But with the way my room is set up, I would have to physically get up to open it.

The other night, I also had the heater on 65 F and I woke and my second blanket that I had underneath me was gone and that I had stripped off my clothes at some point in the night.

I also had no recollection of doing that either. I've thought about setting up a video camera in the room, but I've seen enough horror movies that I'm leery to try this.

So, either I'm sleepwalking sometimes or I have a ghost that wants me to be cold?

I bet you are geting up in the night, set up the camera but if you do the incidents will stop...

Taking any sleep aids? Ambien or natural?

red911sc 01-25-2014 04:45 AM

Adjust your heater settings or layers of sheets/comforters so you do not get so hot

Bugsinrugs 01-25-2014 05:54 AM

Set up the camera then post the video.

Last night the heater is set at 65 with one comforter.

In the summer is when I usually find an open window (even though I have the A/C on).

Is you house on a ancient Indian burial ground?

Either that or your cat is messing with your head.

weseeeee 01-25-2014 03:43 PM

I agree with Bugs, video then post it:)

Maybe you have a naughty lady poltergeist?

Rick V 01-25-2014 03:49 PM

Menopause, or a ghost, although if you have a cat you can't rule that out.

Whether you have a cat or not, one snuck in.
Those bastards!

nynor 01-25-2014 05:42 PM

Your body does change as you sleep. My wife explained the mechanism/reason when she was in school, but I can't remember what it was. I also occasionally feel the opposite, hot/cold, when I get up from what I felt when I went to bed, but I don't sleep walk. I read an article about sleep walking on the BBC earlier this year. Some people sleep walk, sleep cook and eat, sleep drive and even sleep sex (I think I dated her once ;) ).

Are you feeling stressed lately? Do you think you have a history of nocturnal activity?

Do you have a programmable thermostat that you could set to change the temp at night?

Por_sha911 01-25-2014 07:06 PM

Maybe you can setup a motion sensor to turn a light on if you get out of bed to break the cycle by waking you up.

Wow 65 and a comforter? I would be roasting. I sleep best with fresh air, room low 50s, a comforter, and one leg uncovered.

(not a doctor so toss this into the round file..)
The indicators could be a problem with your endocrine/thyroid/hormone system.
Men get them too.
Might be worth a blood check-up.
Just sayin'

I used to know a girl (dang attractive) who stopped staying over at other people's houses because she would sleep walk over to other bedrooms and crawl into bed with them and have no recollection of it!

Not feeling particularly any more stressed than normal.

The only history of nocturnal activity that I know of is waking up to an open window when it was shut when I go to sleep.

The recent fan setting change is new.

The odd thing is that I can't even find the string to change the setting in the dark while I'm awake, and yet I can do it while I'm asleep?

It 67 last night and I slept very well with no unusual activity.
