Baby's got a new set of shoes!
Just wanted to share my day of happiness with the OT peeps.
My 1984 Carerra was wearing some Cup II knockoff wheels when I bought it. The PO said that is what was on the car when he bought it as well. Some misguided soul back in the 90s or early 2000s must have thought he wanted to make the car look more current. Unfortunately the original Fuchs were lost to history. I found a set of original Fuchs 7s and 9s on Craigslist for next to nothing but ended up finding out that the seller mistakenly sold the wrong wheels and the ones I had were original to a 930 track car. Out of concern for the owner of the 930 I decided to let them have the wheels back. There's a whole separate thread on that saga, lol. Then I had an offer for original 7s and 8s from another Pelican for a good price but after many emails and 8 months of waiting, that deal fell through. So, I decided to move forward with Euromeisters, 7s on the front and 9s on the rear. Here is the car before: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390671112.jpg And here we are after: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390671139.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390671164.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390671179.jpg Happy new shoes day! |
Nice!
Much better! |
Looks so much better now.
|
How does a guy make a mistake with advertising and selling a set of wheels? Did he have two sets of 7 & 9's? Weird.
Anyway, your car looks great! Mo bettah fer sure |
It was a shop selling the tires and the employee that put the ad up sold the wrong stack of Fuchs. He was supposed to sell some 15 inch cookie cutters I think and ended up selling OEM 7s and 9s off a 930. He was an idiot but I didn't think punishing the 930 owner because the shop guy was an idiot was right so I gave them back. I think the scars are still healing, lol.

I'm a huge fan of Fuchs, and think that the new wheels are an improvement, but of the modern wheels, the stuff that you had on before are my favorite. They didn't look bad, the new wheels look better though. The old ones would have looked great in gloss black.
There's just no substitute for the forged Fuchs goodness. |
Love the Fuchs!

Fuchs is german for bacon.
|
Excellent!
|
Very nice!

Nice car but needs to be lowered a whole lot. A WHOLE lot. Please see thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/483086-post-pictures-right-stance.html Mine's the one with the cheap Cup knock offs ;)

Car is fine at present height; good height for everyday driving... lower than that and you've got to do a crawl over speed bumps and into some driveways. |
Looks great Rick!
Definitely lower it unless you are prepping for the Paris Dakar. SmileWavy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390694055.jpg |
Looks nice. What the dia. and tire size?
|
Nothing like new shoes, congrats they look great.
|
Lowering is next step. I wanted to get the new shoes on first.
Wheels are 17x7 and 9. Tires are 225/45/17 on the front and 255/40/17 on the rear. |
Make sure your oil lines are out of the way on the back end.. I have the same set up and my oil lines were very close to the tires, they had rub marks on them so I had to zip tie them out of the way. Yours might be fine but I would defiantly look. Love the look of your car with the new wheels.
|
Or just get the oil lines out of the way.

Thanks for the tip guys, I'll check and make sure.
