More Fun In the Desert
Got away for a few days to La Quinta, CA for a wedding:
Lots of nice cars - none of them mine: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870105.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870446.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870461.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870491.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870510.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870530.jpg Nice place too: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870750.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870709.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870824.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870801.jpg |
"Wildlife" at the resort
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390870957.jpg Hollywood wildlife used to come here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871132.jpg And nice hiking - 72 deg - good for about 3 months out of the year: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871088.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871165.jpg Not bad for an iPhone eh? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871190.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871219.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871298.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390871317.jpg A good time was had by all! And a good place to get away to if you are needing a little sunlight! |

It didn't look like that in the 70's. What do they call Ave 44 these days?

My wife and I lived in Fallbrook when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. We loved the area!!
|
Sorry but I've had friends living in that area I've gone to visit over the years, and I've never thought it was any place special or desirable. But of course, maybe the golf is the main attraction - a game I never cared to play.

There is beauty in the desert. I especially like Joshua Tree.
But you have to look hard for the beauty. It doesn't knock you out like a Yosemite Valley etc. But it is there. And it's easier to see in the winter and spring :) |
I love the desert and P.S.
My wife, not so much (even so we are going to Las Vegas in Feb. but not a lot of desert on the strip.) Fortunately we both love the mountains and the beach, so we have that going for us. |
Oh, I'm a fan of the desert & have been camping & hiking in lots of desert places for decades. I have a special place where I like to camp & drink my morning cup of coffee up on a hill side while watching the coyotes chase the rabbits around. I just personally can't see myself living in a populated area in the middle of the desert. A personal thing I guess.

Nice place. I rented a house with a pool just up the hill in "the Cove" last year. Bicycled all thru that resort....Great area in the winter.
|
We use to live in Palm Springs and we miss it a lot.....seriously considering moving back.
I loved my little back yard, especially summer nights. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390935492.jpg |
Marv - FWIW, I could never live there.
But visit there for a long weekend at discounted prices - that I like! |
Wow - what a place. That actually looks a lot like a home on a golf course I visited in LQ last week.
|
10 F here, that looks fantastic! Must have been quite the wedding based on the cars in the parking lot. I agree that the desert has a subtle and rugged beauty, I spent a lot of time in AZ for work and it definitely grew on me. Far more beautiful at 75 F than 115 F though.;)

No one at THIS wedding drove those - they were either other guests or dealers.
