Uh, Oh: Testosterone supplements linked to heart attacks in new study
|
Interesting.
But, this is just a review of insurance claims. They found (I assume - haven't read the study) a correlation between heart attacks and testosterone supplements. Doesn't show causation. Maybe guys who didn't feel fit were more likely to use T, and maybe they didn't feel fit because they weren't. FDA will examine the clinical trials of T products, which should have been randomized and blinded, and look for a cardiac signal. Also they will review the preclinical data. Maybe they will require a new randomized study. |
Doctors were talking about this at the hospital today. No one was at all surprised by the findings.

I'm no doctor or biologist or veterinarian but arnt these t supplement clinics basically hawking steroids for geezers? They seem about as respectable medically as California anxiety clinics

Crappy article. Your risk can double and still be infinitesimal. Like I could buy two lottery tickets...
Maybe out of 55,000 older guys 8 had heart attacks when only 4 should have based on a sample group of non users. They don't say. |
