OSU B-Ball Player Shoves Old Man in Crowd...

Anyone catch the Texas Tech OSU game when Marcus Smart shoved an old man? This kid graudated a few years ago from my Son's HS. Not the first time he lost his cool...

Kid was one of a few reasons our HS won nationals...still can't get a direct answer if he ever really lived in our town or not. Home town paper (Cross Timbers Gazette) had a sweet article about him and his Mom. Now this...

Y! SPORTS

Says he said a racial slur to him.

Supposedly, others nearby heard the slur as well.

Kid has the NBA looking close at him, not the the NBA really cares if the kid is a hot head...prolly draw more crowds. The NBA needs another Rodman, nothing like round-ball circus...

Who was the guy a few years ago - was that Ron Artest? who jumped into the crowd and hit a guy about some sort of drink spill/throwing?

My memory ain't as...

Hey, the Olympics are on....

And aside from Rhythmic gymnasties, there is nothing sweeter to the eye than the ladies that zoom down the big slope on snowboard...

Well, figure skating, but way too many of those females are more properly called "girls", and trouble is sure to follow...

What ever that guy might have said, "elderly fan" had to be some instant karma.

hardflex 02-10-2014 03:57 AM

The player Smart went to Marcus HS Flower Mound. Isn't that where your kids go MD? Did they know him? Maybe he was your neighbor? Its only 4 miles from me.

Seemed like a bang bang play. Player hustle sends him to the stands on his back, guy says something hostile player turns and gives him a shove and it's over. I wasn't all that interested except to find out he's a local kid.

matt711 02-10-2014 04:20 AM

Now they are reporting that it wasnt a racial slur, he called the player a piece of crap or something. Apparently this fan is known for this behavior. I guess he got the reaction that he was looking for. I doubt the NBA will care at all.

strupgolf 02-10-2014 04:31 AM

That "old man" fan has been doing the same things for years. He sits there using the f-you, giving the finger, yelling some nasty words to the visiting team. He' the one who should be suspendid for 3 games. A ticket does not give you the right to be an *******.

Don Ro 02-10-2014 05:42 AM

"Old man" was grinnin' just after the shoving. No pity for him from me.

fintstone 02-10-2014 05:47 AM

No pity... But attacking a fan in the stands? That simply cannot be tolerated. Even worse, lying about racial remarks being made in an attempt to justify the shoving? The OSU player is lucky he is not out for the season. The only reason he is not is because he is so physically gifted and brings in the big bucks.

The dust has settled on this one, let's hope that both people involved learned something.

It does take two to tangle.

M.D. Holloway 02-10-2014 06:13 AM

Word on the mean streets of FloMo is that the fan called him 'a black piece of crap'...

I guess if the fan wasn't in the wrong then he would not have opt'd to sit out the rest of the year. The guy is known to be a tool but it doesn't give you the right to assault someone and thats basically what it was. The ol man could press charges and be in the right.

Hardflex, my Son is a few years younger so he didn't know him. We did see him play a few times - used to be a kid on the team with the last name Holloway so we would go root him on too. No relation just thought it be fun.

fintstone 02-10-2014 06:15 AM

The investigation including all witnesses and audio and video determined there was no racial slur.

fintstone 02-10-2014 06:18 AM

But only one tangoed. The other one just stood there. This was a physical attack for something someone said. There is no excuse or equivalency.

He is just the typical gifted athlete that can do no wrong as long as he can score points. If any of the rest of us aggressively shoved a man on national TV we would be arrested on the spot for assault.

The NBA will love him and he will make mega millions. When he is rich and shoves some fan the lawsuit will happen and he will have to pay for it. No big deal, tell the lawyer to write a check. He will be at a night club soon and someone will call him a name and hold their chin out waiting for the big money punch. Would you take a punch from him for a 1/4 million?

M.D. Holloway 02-10-2014 06:32 AM

never an excuse for assualt...on TV or in public view...no witnesses well thats a different story...

Would I take a punch for two fidy large? oh ya

onewhippedpuppy 02-10-2014 06:45 AM

No excuses for either side, but a player on a major D1 program has had people yelling at him for years. In the case of Smart, he'll have the opportunity for fans to yell at him in the NBA. In addition, he has to deal with trash talking on the court. Players are expected to block all that out and play the game, if he allows himself to get rattled it only encourages more trash talk. By all accounts he's a good kid, and I respect the fact that he admitted his mistake and didn't attempt to protest the penalty.
