I couldn't have planned one like his.
I have a 14 foot tall delivery truck coming Wednesday. The truck needs to get up to my shop so's I don't have to drag a 500ish pound lump up the hill....crate motor. So. I have to trim a tree....big deal. Then Mother Nature threw me a high/inside hard one. Then rained on the snow to make it nice & neavy......then froze it.

Maybe I can re-schedule the delivery.
Maybe some prayers to the weather Gods for a touch more warmth. Any help is appreciated.

Snow shovel? check. Chainsaw, check? A young vigorous body?........er....

Park truck in street, get one of these to unload your crate motor. On the upside, maybe you can rent the front bucket attachment and plow some snow to recoup the rental fee.:p

Do you have a neighbor with a 4-wheeler or a snowmobile and a sled? Let the snow work for you!

That snow could be your friend. Build a crude sled with plywood and some 2x6s. Make some sort of frame that could be pushed from behind. Slowly push it up there using your truck.

You could also rent either a winch or a chain fall from Home Depot, and pull it up there. Those fence post would be a good anchor point for the first part of the journey, then attach it somewhere in the back of the garage.

Should be in the upper 30's today and the rest of the week. I would guess it will all be gone by tomorrow.

If not, put out a sign that says "Free Coke" and all the tweakers in the Portland area will make short work of it for you...

I'd cut the grass if I only had that much snow.

Find some guy that plows driveways for money. Give him the $25-$50 he will charge, throw some salt on whatever is left and be done with it.

Go pick it up yourself. Put it in the back of Suburban/Yukon that's in the lower garage. No tree cutting needed that way. Use engine crane to remove from back of Suburban/Yukon when at shop.

What did you end up buying as a project car?

Have the truck back up as far as it can then drop it on a dolly.

Looks like you can get within 10 feet of the garage, not that big a deal to move the motor that short a distance.

If you really don't want to break a sweat then bolt an eye somewhere to the garage, pass a rope through it, when motor is on dolly tie rope to dolly and the other end to the truck, truck driver can slowly pull out of drive which will pull the motor up the drive.

That kind of looks like a honey gold 1965 Mustang in the back garage there. If that is where the engine is going, then I would just pay some local guys a few bills to sedan chair it up there.

Shovel the driveway and then unload it into that p/u in your garage. Leave it in there until the snow is gone. If it's all ice underneath, there probably won't be a delivery truck to your house until that stuff is melted anyway.

Is it a Roush motor for that Mustang?

Not Roush, a builder in Az......Tuff Dawg and yes, it is for the Mustang.....a white 20 footer. After a lot of research I finally fingered that a crate motor is a crap shoot no matter the builder. The sweat rolls down the crack of my azz when firing up MY new builds for the first time.

I drove the car maybe 20 miles.....making a mental laundry list of needs.
I went home and put it up on blocks in Sept of last year. I'm almost done with the make it handle & stop part. Make it go is next. Prolly won't be on the ground till April/May. I've been spending money like a drunken sailor.....not Porsche territory
but enuff to get ones attention.

That is a Tacoma with a canopy in the lower garage.

Tree trimming is done. I planted that thing bout 35 years ago and it is no stranger to my chainsaw.......good cherries if the bugs don't get em'. The driver can back right up to the door and will have a place to set his liftgate......God willing & the snow melts.....Hay, it's all paid for.

That's quite the set up you got there hold up that Mustang.

This would be a great time to have a friend with a 4wd pickup. Unload the motor into the truck, back it up and into the shop (something the delivery truck isn't going to do). Unload the pickup with whatever you plan to move the engine around with.

This, I do it all the time, seems like the delivery man always shows up when my shop is full, and I cant get the hoist to the front door, or I have had semi trucks that refused to come down my road, deliver motors. I just meet them down the road, slide the motor into the back of my pickup, and then unload it later when I am ready.
