I'd like to imagine that there never was a "John Lennon"...

My Grandfather never wanted his children to have to work in the factory, and saw education as the ticket out of that life. So he made sure they were pushed in that direction, although they had to work and achieve it for themselves.

I was given the gift of being given that largess, so recognition would be the payback for that gift. One would have achieved something in the horizontal world. However what one has achieved is in the vertical world that Lubey and I are talking about. One has achieved market penetration if not recognition in the horizontal world as one influences thinking.

...The outer purpose belongs to the horizontal dimension of space and time; the inner purpose concerns a deepening of your Being in the vertical dimension of the timeless Now....

Great film, Run Lola Run. Even better sound track.

On felt this was an appropriate beginning. One is not a follower of anything nor anybody. One does not subscribe to any ideology, particular religious view, political affiliation nor even ones own family story, one in which we all grow up with One that shapes our world view and how we fit into that world.

One can not be transcendent until we break the chains that bind us to that family story. Then we are able to see the larger rather than smaller picture of the world and the reality of it. Until then we are bound like Prometheus to the rock of acting out our role as proscribed by ones family story.

The only way to break the bonds that bind is to confront that family story and that is to risk ostracization by ones very own family. A very difficult thing to do.

One has previously commented that Lincoln to be his own man had to confront his fathers view that Abe should not try and be more than his station in life dictated, that he be a poor, illiterate dirt farmer in Illinois. From that beginning Abe was able to be his own man and chart his own course in life.

You were predestined to write that.

Tabs, may I suggest a new Persona for you. Since you are a man of Wealth and Taste and you seem with your last few threads to be headed this way I suggest to you bring us the best song lyrics, poems, literature, in your considerable domain, and then discuss their meanings. Sort of a 'Dead PARF Society' if you saw that movie.

Just a suggestion.

I told you that I was going to start discussing the transcendental nature of man and his ascension into heaven. :D

time better spent IMO...and while we are on the subject, several years ago I was approched by 2 young lasses while spending time with my son in the front garden. The girls were on a mission to get folks to their church. They introduced themselves and asked me if they could ask me a question. Sure, why not.

"Can you be certain your going to heaven when you die?"

I looked at them and smiled, I looked at my son digging in the dirt and said to them 'I'm already there...'

They had no response for me.

We all experience hell and heaven and while I can understand the need to have some sort of assurence that when we stop breathing for good that there is something after, some reward. The alternive is impossible to consider.

But would if it be that different as to before we were born? There was nothing.

Maybe we should look to experience life and live for the moment with an eye towrds a personal reward as we proceed rather than concerning ourselves with the thereafter...

During the war one of WC Fields friends noticed that Fields had $50,000 in German Banks to which Fields replied, "That money is there just in case the SOB wins the war." In other words ya hedge yer bets...

There is an old adage: Don't take financial advice from a man who is broke.

In that same vein, I won't take advice on how to achieve inner peace from someone (not speaking of anyone in particular) who's life is full of conflict or turmoil. Make sure you know what is at the bottom of the well you are drinking from.
