Outstanding man. My sympathies to you and your family. Damned good to be proud of your old man, isn't it?

High school coach in 74 overseeing our machine shop class in 1974, who also coached my dad in '54 (American) football, got pissed off at me for farting around. He said "Your Dad is twice the man you will ever be". Although I took a well deserved hit, I will never forget that about my Dad and the impression he made on other folks.

It's cool to have/have had a good Dad.

The members of the body aren't all heads, feet, or arms. The gifts aren't handed out that way. Your Dad was a model of decency who cared deeply for those who needed care the most. Where many would have turned to their own selfish pursuits, he was called to fight the good fight. I believe his work was proof of a genuine faith in Christ.

Sorry for you, man. 76 isn't young but isn't that old either. Sounded like a great guy and after your retelling I wish I met him. My dad's 72 and has that same innate humility and effortless decency. The rest of us have to think about it and work on it.
The true Christians are like your dad- their actions speak louder than anything they would ever say.
