Unless someone is bleeding or on fire cops can't be bothered with this petty theft stuff. Zero excitement factor and a bunch of mindless paperwork. Cops hate paperwork. The bank and the postal inspectors will follow through though and when they make a case it will probably involve the FBI as a federal crime.

Now if this perp was found bleeding and on fire...

Did you contact the bail bondsman he paid with the CC? He is most likely getting a charge back from the credit card company and will not be to happy to lose money. I think he would be happy to find this guy. They have a lot of resources available to them when it comes to finding people

I think mail theft is a federal offense so I would get the FBI involved.

Going to the TV stations with the photos was your best bet to catch him.

There is a local store that has a problem with shoplifting. They installed hidden cameras all over the store. There are signs at the front door and all over the store stating that everything is on video. About once a week they post photos on Facebook of a shoplifter. Within hours someone recognized the perp and let the store owners know who it is. They have had several thief's arrested.

Too bad you can't use something like one of the gps pet trackers, add it to a window decoration or wind chime, then mail it to yourself until the carp takes the bait.
