Lawsuit lawyers piss me off bigtime but if we didn't have greedy low-life POS people trying to hit the lawsuit lottery at the drop of a hat, the ambulance chasers wouldn't have anything to do.

Yes they've managed to pervert the legal system so that they are a necessity to protect yourself from other lawyers, and they get paid no matter what, but they are a symptom of a diseased culture and not the disease itself.

Dunno - why are people so lawsuit-happy / litigious? Seems to me the endless cry of "sue, sue, sue" from the legal services industry drives a lot of it. Chicken / egg problem (?)

Chicken / Egg McMuffin problem. Blaming lawyers for the excesses of people who use their services is like blaming McDonalds for obesity. Yes, their advertising is enticing, but people have to take responsibility for their own decisions.
