Anyone have a supermoto??

Well I miss my bike. "Took long enough"! My whole goal is not to ride street. I'm still having problems from a broken ankle from the summer when I got whack by a car. I've considered a few options; another stunt bike, a Buell (haha), and cafe racer. But that really segues into street again.

I'm thinking supermoto. Anyone have one? What's your impressions over other bikes you have ridden? I have ridden Harley's, liter bikes, knobbies on and off road.
I have a good budget, but I don't plan to spend liter bike money. What could you recommend?

i used to have a husky sm610. loved it, but had to sell it after getting 3 tickets in only 200 miles. it's a total hooligan bike. wheelies and stoppies pretty much at will. terrible on the highway, with a buzzy motor, no wind protection and a seat like a 2x4. i was tempted to do something stupid every time i rode it.

I want one.
The little YamahaWR250 would be a fun 5 mile commuter bike.
The Ape 550 would likely result in jail time

I have an 03 Honda XR650r that is street legal. I have been riding it to and from work for the last couple of weeks since the weather here has warmed up. A beast to start, but a nice break from sitting in commute traffic.

KTM 625 SMC........Funnest bike I've ever owned and have had over a hundred......With a few light mods, 56 RWHP, just a little over 300 lbs....Wide wheels, big brakes, huge ground clearance.

Couldn't ever be my only bike, but great for twisty backroads. The no wind protection is great for hot days, not so great the rest of the time....Small tank (2.7), but butt gives out B4 the fuel.

I'm a hardcore supermoto lover. After having had most every sportbike on the planet (including a few Harleys), I always seemed to gravitate back to Supermoto. Honestly, it's the most fun you can have on 2 wheels IMO. More smiles per mile than any other bike.

An absolutely superb supermoto-type bike is a KTM 690 Duke. I had a 2008. Now I have had hardcore supermotos as pictured above, but they can't be "only" bikes. This Duke 690 could. It has top shelf components (white power suspension, Bosch fuel injection, Brembo monoblock brakes, slipper clutch, braided lines, etc). It is the most powerful single cylinder on the road (70HP). Couple with the very light weight (325lbs)., this thing is a hook. It is quite possibly the best handling bike I've ever owned.

I suggest you look for one. The 2014 model is a little more "street" bike looking than the previous version...but still a fantastic bike and now has ABS (if that matters).

This was my bike:

This is the 2014 model:

I really really like the 690 duke, But I think it is too nice for me. Ie. I like to drop things, wheelies, not so much on stoppies.

Alright, I have limited it down between two bikes.

KTM 00' duke 2 with 14k miles, and a 00' KTM LC4 supermoto with 3k miles.
I'm leaning towards the duke 2 due to the fact it is a little more street focused, but the higher miles scare me. However, the price difference gives plenty of budget for a complete rebuild, and rear handbrake setup.

Are the LC4's reliable?!
