34 - 0

Pretty proud of my alma matter. Wichita State is now 34 -0 and conference champs. Bring on the big dance!

Baz 03-09-2014 06:28 PM

Congrats Matt!

I really like and respect the Shockers.

You have a conference tourney coming up, no?

Gators play on Friday in the SEC tourney.

I agree.....bring on the dance!

When I lived in Salina as a kid (military brat) I always remember hearing about Wichita State. Good for them.

GH85Carrera 03-10-2014 04:39 AM

Congrats. It is cool to see a team go all season unbeaten. It is newsworthy because it is so rare.

onewhippedpuppy 03-10-2014 04:47 AM

Baz, they just won the Missouri Valley tournament yesterday. Can't wait for March Madness.

BTW...who was the pinhead(s) who rated this thread at only 1 star?

I gave it a 5 star rating which brought it up a little...

What's a matter...your team not doing so well so you gotta dump on Matt? :o/

Maybe Doug Gottlieb posts on here?:p

Congrats to the Shockers! I hope they get a #1 seed as they deserve it. Don't know what happened to my JayHawks over the weekend. They better get it together for the big dance.

I've always felt that the biggest challenge facing teams like KU and UK is the top talent that they recruit. One one hand you get fantastically talented players. On the other hand they are freshmen and you only have them one year. So you get some incredible performances, and then the next game you get a bunch of silly freshman mistakes. Fantastic players isn't a bad problem to have, but if you don't have some good upperclassmen to offset them I think it's a challenge to make a deep tournament run.

Watch out for the Gators.....................!!http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8bdaa62b.gif

34-0 is indeed impressive, though I admit, I haven't watched much b-ball this year and didn't realize anyone hadn't lost. That will change over the few weeks (me watching, not your team)...I'll be watching for 'em and rooting....until they meet up with one of my "local" teams. Even then, ya never know (I do like underdawgs when they go up against the traditional powers). Yep, bring on the big dance....I don't give a rat's about the ACC (or other) conference tourney's anymore....I miss those days too.

+1

I love that gif, BTW!

Go Gators!

:)

Nice year for the Shockers! March is the only time I watch college hoops so I'll make sure to catch one of their games! However, I'm with Baz on this one....Go Gators!

onewhippedpuppy 03-10-2014 05:08 PM

Gators are definitely one to watch. They've overcome a lot and still been hugely successful. Unlike college football where we can bench race all day long, in basketball it's equal opportunity. Just win baby!

71scgc 03-11-2014 06:29 AM

Good for the Shocker hoop team.
They have the most obnoxious baseball fans though. I can remember them coming to Stillwater (OSU) for games. UGGH!

Bump, to bring this back to the top for this week's games.
Go Shox!

onewhippedpuppy 03-19-2014 07:29 PM

I can't wait for Friday night! Though if both KSU and WSU win they will meet on Sunday, that presents a huge paradox for me. Born and raised in Manhattan, grew up going to KSU everything, did some of my school there, but WSU is my alma mater and Wichita is my home. I'll probably just keep quiet and drink heavily.:)

Prairie Lizard 03-19-2014 07:52 PM

Similar problem. Our daughter did her undergrad at KSU, but we live in Andover. It is hard not to root for the Shockers this year.

Personally, I'm a Husker, but they'll never get past Baylor I'm afraid.

I'm with you on the heavy drinking.
