Jimmy Dolittle went from farmboy scrapper, to crazy flyer, to MIT Doctorate, back to crazy flyer, to 4-star general.
He was a major proponent for installing full flight gauges in aircraft(alt/horizon), and flew the first IFR landing, first cross country, etc. That is why today we can hop on a plane 24/7. |
