intimidated by your cat-

House cat goes berserk, scares Portland family | kgw.com Portland

The family called 911 at 7:55 p.m., telling dispatchers the huge cat named Lux attacked their baby and then forced them to flee into a bedroom, where they remained holed up inside.

The baby was not injured but the 911 operator could hear Lux screeching in the background.

You'd be surprised how far a 22lb cat will go when subjected to a swift kick. As a cat owner (concierge?), if mine ever tried something like that, it wouldn't be me ending up locked in a room.

GH85Carrera 03-11-2014 12:04 PM

We know who is Aplha in that house. It ain't the humans. Stupid humans to allow that.

Aragorn 03-11-2014 12:05 PM

Cats and babies usually don't get along when the cat was there first. Don't know if it is the new "smells" or constant grabbing and jabbing.

Owner is kind of a douche for kicking the cat...

When officers arrived, the man, who sounded slightly shaken, told the dispatcher he was reluctant to let the police in because, "If I leave the bedroom, I'm going to have to fight the cat. Tell them to be careful, the police."
The dispatcher stayed on the phone with the caller to make sure everyone, including the family dog, was safe.

never let a cat win - ever

once they know you fear them in some way the cat will exploit it-

Ya think?
He kicks the cat and wonders why it gets agressive?
I suspect the cat decided to do the world a favor and end the loser's line right there.
Some people should not be allowed near animals.

Thankfully the officers who attended had more clues than the homeowner.

OMG the win in that video:

Moment of Win #1
Loser: That was the cat, did you hear it??
911 operator: Uh, yeah, I heard it (LOLdoucheOMG)

Moment of Win #2
Officer Deadpan: ...could have been Catastrophic...

Cajundaddy 03-11-2014 05:40 PM

Oh for fecks sake. Adults fleeing from their 22lb house cat? I thought maybe it was a bobcat or one of those Savannahs... Sheesh!

Flieger 03-11-2014 05:42 PM

One of my coworkers mentioned this story. Said it was in Oregon. I said "Must have been Portland"...

:)

Flieger 03-11-2014 05:44 PM

Looks like a nice cat in the video. I would take him if they don't want him.

They had it coming.

Wow, you can go fishing any day with that wife in tow. All the tackle is ready to use in her face. :) Maybe the folks were a little paranoid - wrong strand of weed? But John's video above is testimony that a cat can mess you up bad if it is on a mission.

I have caught feral cats before to bring to the pound and it was not fun to transfer them from trap to carrier. Welding gloves are minimum equipment.

When I was younger, we had a neighbor who had a mean can that would bit people. Sumbiatch jumped on my leg one night and bit me. Its an ****** miracle the cat survived given how hard I punted his ass.

jyl 03-12-2014 02:21 AM

In Portland we either have unmanly men or the most fearsome cats ever. I prefer to believe the latter.

livi 03-12-2014 02:38 AM

Well, that was different..
