AM Radio

Hello Everyone, SmileWavy

Can you tell me what is the best way to pull in AM radio? My Mom likes to listen to AM but living next to a hill does help the reception.

Any ideas?

Thanks. :p

She could run a line up to the top of the hill and put the antenna there, or do like Hugh suggests

You can totally geek out on antenna design.... Trust me! How far away are the stations she likes to listen to? Does she have room for an outdoor antenna? Are you willing to put up an outdoor antenna?

If they are fairly close, a loop antenna is a good choice

If you get really crazy you can make a loop antenna and use a variable capacitor to make a tunable antenna.

Around my house, I have a couple of antennas but I usually use this little gem. If you have a stereo RCA to 3.5mm output you can play anything.

Most radios are really optimized for FM of tapes/CDs. Buy her one of these for a gift--they are amazing for AM and will pull in weak signals:
