wheelstand contest.

talk about throttle management and feathering your right foot..............okay they're not going for trap times or outright speed, but still are hooking up hard with some serious hp and torque.

Back in 1974 I was at the big motorcycle party between Laconia N.H. and Loudon N.H. and around 2:30 AM a guy on a rigid framed Harley Flathead did a wheelstand all the way from one town to the other! At that time there was a race track somewhere in the woods and not much else any where!

I ran across this and got hooked. Had to watch the whole thing!

Wheelies on bikes are not impressive in the same way as in a car.

The red gremlin was pretty impressive. Back in the day, there were cars that were setup for wheelie exhibitions. Wasn't there a car that had plexiglass floorboards so the driver could see where he was going?

Heck, Ed "The Outlaw" Jones is still making a living doing wheelies.

That Byron vid is great. Thanks for sharing. That Jeep driver is nutso AND very lucky! Byron strip still active? We'd hit there and Union Grove. Grudge racing on Wed. nights.

Bikes: I nearly lost it big time at Union Grove on my old CBX 6 cyl. w/turbo kit, etc.. Had the tire warmed up real good and gooey for the launch, but screwed up while spooling up (terrible lag) and slip the clutch out. Caught me off guard and stood straight up.

Also: I remember seeing Hemi U-glass and Little Red Wagon. Those were fun shows.

And lets not rule out the 911>>>

My cousin has made it around Road America a few times with the front wheel up on his Honda. On the highway you can ride as long as there is gas in the carb and no oil starvation. My uncle used to stand up, turn around and sit back down on the gas tank and ride backwards while going down the highway.
