Iphone to headset adapters needed/ideas

I have been trying to find a good quality setup to use with my headset and Iphone in the plane, I dont have an intercom system since its only a single place so I just use the mic and headphone plugs with a ptt switch. I bought one a few years back but it never worked with my Iphone, I dont know whats different with the apple?

Any of you pilots have a plug and play setup or I'm sure they use something like this with motorcycles too?

Even if you have some drawings where maybe I can make something up??

Thanks

Seems to me you'd need a simple mixer...

Simple mixer

or do it redneck style and if you use muff type things (which I imagine you would in a small noisy plane) cut a hole and dangle the ear buds thru

Not sure how this works but the mic on my headset has to work with my iphone too so I can use it to call out not just listen thru the headset.

Here is what the iphone plug is: iPhone has a 3.5mm headset jack. The iPhone connector has 4 conductors: 1 common, 1 left ear, 1 right ear, 1 microphone.

A simple splitter setup then? or would it be possible/probable that your headset mic doesn't pick up anything unless you've hit the ptt button... which means no phone calls, siri, etc. unless your radio is broadcasting too

I also have a Y adapter that allows separate mic and audio plugs that has the single plug into the iPhone...
