I have yet to see anyone with a Galaxy be able to pull something up without fumbling around for it. ( show me a picture or a text from the other day, etc.. and it will take them a few minutes to find it). They simply are not user friendly or intuitive like iPhones are. I give Apple that credit, along with the interface between all the programs. I download a song or an app or take a picture on any one of my 4 devices and it auto-populates to the other three. That is the biggest advantage to me.

afaikt Chocaholic was just offering up a suggestion -in good faith- to try the newer Samsungs. |
Samsung can go to hell. We got 2 of their switches. Lame thing will not play with the nortel switch. No call handoff at all period end of story. It is a steaming pile of crap! Card failures one after another. And it's ugly as sin.
I'd rather have amd gpu's than anything samsung. |

We have two iPhones, two iPod touches, and two iPads. Pretty hard to call me a hater, but I also think Apple is slipping. iOS 7 was the first time that I have felt the need to tinker with the settings to make the phone "better". We have a lot of problems with music randomly appearing on the kids' iPods from my large iTunes library, some of which isn't appropriate. iCloud is useless without paying for more storage, every time I use my iPad I have to navigate through messages about upgrading my storage. My wife's 6 month old iPhone 5 has an issue where the volume up will stick, leaving the indicator in the middle of her screen for hours. SW updates no longer remember all of your settings, instead restoring some to default. After updating devices you have to manually tweak the settings, fun when there are six devices in your household. Music is almost impossible to delete, especially entire albums. It will cling to an unusable LTE signal instead of dropping to 4G, I have to change the settings and force it to 4G at times to have data service. I could go on.....
I used to love Apple stuff because it just worked. That advantage seems to be slipping away. |
Strange. The only thing we've had to deal with is settings reverting back to their defaults after the upgrade. NBD.

The only thing I will say is, in my 49 years, Ive never seen such rabid devotion to and vehement defense of an inanimate object/brand. I just find it pretty disturbing. Ive seen people get in a shoving match over this subject. That's pretty sick. |
Love my iphone.
Agree Apple is not moving in a good direction. Suspect it's just a function of trying to make changes to generate sales based on perceived improvements. problem is the iphone 4 is perfect in its role and doesn't really need anything. |
Reports of a 5.5" and 4.5" screen model iPhone "6" this summer.

Apple iOS 7.1
Apple us becoming a follower by feeling the "need" to constantly screw with things just for the sake of screwing with them and keeping up with everyone else. When you're a leader you get to SET trends, not respond to them and if your product is good enough you don't have to constantly fart around with it and stick the customers on the perpetual upgrade treadmill which just pisses them off.
A lot of it is sales-driven bean counter nonsense which is transparent and pisses off people just as much if not more. |
POP I think that sounds great but if you're sitting in the Apple boardroom and sales are slowing the pressure would be on to do something.

long story short.....turn the phone off and only use it for 20 second out going calls (less than three per day thank you) and you MIGHT get 8 hrs of battery life!!!! BWHAHAHAHA!!!! Really Apple? all the wonderful features mean fart if your darn phones dead all the time......... (not an apple hater, but disappointed with this phone....and I don't find it very user friendly......) |
My battery works the same since the upgrade. Battery is as good as most other phones out there.

The biggest handicap for Android phones, and perhaps this is my narrow sampling with ATT, is that the mobile carrier loads them with horrible apps that non rooted phone users can't remove or disable. We are a mix of Linux, Apple, Android, and Windows here. I have to admit I really liked my MacBook Pro until it recently started having GPU problems that cause the computer to crash/reboot 3-4x a day. I must have a black mark over there at Apple because this is the second Apple computer (first was a iMac) where they refused to stand behind their product. I am to pay for the fix...it's a late 2010 model. Not this time Apple, I'm going to get a newer laptop and flash it with Linux. I'm in agreement that iOS appears to be losing some of it's famed "just works" glow. The transition to cloud (iCloud) has not been a smooth one for Apple and IMO the faithful have suffered for it. The pressure from Android/Samsung is perhaps forcing Apple to push to market stuff that is not finished to the level it once was. |
