Earthquake

Small, brief earthquake here in the Lost Angeles area at about 6:25 a.m. Didn't last long, but it frightened our cats and got our attention. They're now saying it measured 4.4, rather than the 4.7 reported initially, so it was not stout enough to do any damage, at least where we are. But it leaves us wondering if there's a bigger one to follow, or if that's it for now.

Certainly the last thing we need is "The Big One," which we all accept will come eventually to SoCal. If it should come, however, early in the morning, when everyone is still at home and in their beds, rather than on the freeways and/or in their offices, probably is the best time for it. We can only hope.

Two miles to the south of me. I was already awake. Sharp sudden jolt, small roll out... It was close to the surface, so felt worse.

Damn thing woke me up from my beauty sleep. Turned over, pull the covers over my head and carried on.

Last night, I was doing the initial work on pulling the sheet of aluminum off the belly pan of my 911 in order to put a new one in. To do it, I have to bring the car up on the lift, and then lower it onto jackstands. I thought about leaving the car up on the jacks -- but then thought 'what if there's an earthquake?'

The lights above those folks will kill them if they fall. He was thinking with the correct organ.

That Porsche could have been the only damage suffered in that Los Angeles earthquake. Glad you were not under the car when it started shaking.

I didn't think about that. Guess I'm the one with a faulty organ today. :)

Still, it would have looked better if he ensured his female sidekick was safe before worrying about himself.

I'm about 2 miles from the epicenter. It was quite a jolt. Made a beeline to the garage to see if the tall shelf *I've been meaning to attach to the wall* had fallen on the 911. It had not. Things fell from the bookcases in the living room, which are attached to the wall. Earthquake country.

IIRC Whittier and Northridge both occurred outside of commuting/working hours

Whittier narrows hit in the morning, i was already at work in santa fe springs (a few miles from the epicenter).
So it may have been before the commute of some, it was after mine. (7:42 am)
