Big 10 Expansion: The End of College Football?

Took a break from working and was looking for something on TV. Finebaum was on and nothing else I could find so I tuned in.

I must have been under a rock but USC and UCLA to join Big 10 in 2024? Ok, I must have missed that.

But there is now speculation that the Big 10 is looking to expand further; naming 7 other schools that include: ND, Fla State, Miami, Stanford, UW, Cal, and Oregon.

So if this happens: Clemsin is in a conference that doesn't exist (even less than now); PAC 12 will fold.

The BIG 12 (or the BIG 2 as I call it) is in big trouble but we already knew that.

Where does this end? And is it good for college football?

I've been saying the end of college football is near but this seems to accelerate the timeline.

Funny comment to the linked article:

If the B1G adds Washington, Oregon, Stanford, and Cal, that’ll leave the PAC with 6 teams.

Those six can then easily merge with the Big XII, bringing them to 20 (not including Texas and Oklahoma).

The SEC, now at 16 with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, can now take their time picking their wants from the ACC, including Notre Dame.

Their basketball program is in the ACC - Might be just a matter of time (money) for the football program to join.

All of their sports are in the ACC, just not football.

ND was part of ACC a couple of years ago, football only for 1 year.

If they can keep working out their own TV deal they may just stay independent.

The discussion on Finebaum yesterday also was about the playoff. Sounds like an expansion is coming, just what form it will take. Apparently it was close to expansion recently but I believe Texas and OK balked at the terms.

I can't believe that ND will remain independent.

If the super conferences keep growing...there is no room for a team to play outside the conference.
The pre-conference easy match-ups will be done.

Who are they going to play??
